Okay, its been a while and I finally got around to seeing it, please note I have read H.P Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu, Shadow over INNSMOUTH and numerous other of his work's (I'm a fan) that being said...
WHAT THE BALL*CKS!!!
Cthulhu, while having some reference (I think they said 'Cthulhu' three times total) is not about 'Call of Cthulhu' the story by lovecraft, it is by all accounts a revised version of 'Shadow over Innsmouth' <3
False advertising aside (there was no giant tentacle creature from beyond the stars that has come to enslave mankind from his aeons of slumber beneath the sea)It was quite amusing to watch a man slowly descend into madness and the sight of watching a grown man screaming like a girl and wetting himself will be one I will enjoy for years to come (amused me greatly)
Note: the statue they used looks like random generic cave rock and in no way was a 'grotesque carving of a god'.
However mush I TRY (believe me I try) to hate this film I find myself putting my thumb up and quite happy with what I got. Okay no big creature, no decent shots of Dagon's children, but damn good.
Dagon is anouther monstrosity, look it up, but he ain't in the film (lots of reference to him though, in a way that makes it sound like Dagon is another name for Cthulkhu him/her self, which Dagon isn't)
Note: SHAGGOTH is mentioned! *glomp*

THE IRON-GIBBET
"And what is in a branch? There's a gibbet! That is why I call my forest the torture chamber!"
